A specification built around your product
A rigid box combines a substantial board structure with an outer paper wrap. It suits projects where the opening experience and organised presentation matter. Start with the product dimensions and packing sequence: a visually impressive box still needs the right lid fit, usable internal space and an insert that holds the contents.

Choose how the box opens
Magnetic closure
A hinged cover with a closing flap. Useful for a book-style opening. Review hinge behaviour, closure alignment and whether the proposed construction is assembled or collapsible.
Drawer and sleeve
An inner tray slides out from an outer sleeve. Discuss tray clearance, finger access or a pull detail. The tray should be easy to open without letting the contents move during normal handling.
Before requesting a quote
Make the specification clear
Compare like-for-like packaging. A useful quotation states the construction, material, print coverage, quantity and delivery basis. Confirm minimum order quantity, sample costs and lead time for the actual project.
- Internal dimensions
Measure the actual product and every accessory. Include clearance for the insert and the space needed to remove each item. - Board and wrap
Confirm board thickness, wrap paper, colour and visible edges. A heavier board is not a substitute for a suitable structure. - Decoration
Compare printed wraps, foil accents, embossing and surface treatments on the selected paper. Fine details need sample approval. - Delivery format
Confirm assembled or collapsible construction, units per shipping carton and carton dimensions. Storage volume affects the total sourcing cost.
What to check on a rigid box sample
Load the sample with the actual contents. Open and close it several times, check the lid alignment and look at wrap corners and visible joins. Test how easily the customer can lift the product out. If the pack will be shipped individually, assess it inside the proposed outer shipping packaging. A presentation box alone does not establish parcel protection.
Record any agreed changes in the final specification. Keep the approved sample as the production reference and confirm the inspection requirements before the order is placed.
Questions before ordering
Can a rigid box ship flat?
Some collapsible constructions can reduce shipping and storage volume. Conventional set-up boxes remain assembled. Confirm the construction and assembly steps before comparing prices.
Can the box include an insert?
Discuss an insert with the complete product set. The material, cavity layout and retention method should be approved with the box, not selected as an afterthought.
What quantity and lead time should I plan for?
Send your target order quantity, delivery date and destination. Minimum quantity and scheduling depend on the specification, tooling, sample approval and production requirements. Confirm them in the quotation.
